We came to Tupiza and decided to take the salar de ununy the next day. We got something to eat, took a shower and went early to bed.
The next morning we went to breakfast and the bank and of course everything is very slow so we ended up having people waiting for us for 25 min.. not a good way to start.. but... the people we were going with were so great that it was all okay.
This trip we were beginning is a 4 day highland drive through some of Bolivas highest and most beautiful places. We were 4 tourists, it is possible to be 6 but i recommend 4 and we were all girls. 2 fun loving girls from Germany named Jana and Danielle. And a driver, named Carlos and a cook, named Esperanza. I know the people that know me are a little bit shocked that i would go on a trip like this.. but if you`re living a adventure you should challenge your self and who know perhaps you will find you, the true you, in the midst.
The first day was really exciting, we drove up nearly the entire day and saw some breathtaking scenery. We stooped at a little village (like 4-5 houses) that has non to little electricity in 4000m and there we spent the evening playing cards and listening to that quietness that you only get when you are far away from everything.
The second day was the longest one. We went on the road at 6am and did not comet to the next place to sleep until 17.30pm, i think i lost my patience at least 2 times but because of Lilja`s good nature she always managed to make me see the positive sight of everything. We actually visited some great thermal spring (we went in and OMG how good it felt) The second sleeping place was not as much fun as the first one (it lacked that lost in the country charm the other one had) It had more people and stuff.. but... no we liked the intense of the other one more.
The 3rd day was the most fun. We saw lots of different Lagos (red, green, white) and lots and lots of flamingos. We were 3 of 4 girls dressed in pink and some guys asked us if it was to get closer to the flamingos... in case that they thought we were one of them... it was just funny because we didn't even realise it before the guys pointed it out that we were all pink...just funny... the 3rd night place was the most exotic of them all.. it was a little house with little doors (Lilja was the only one of us that didn't need to bend down to get in) The beds were made of salt and the floor of rough salt.... really cool, though the air gets a little dry...
The 4th and last day we got up really early, at 5 and we were in the salt desert at 5.30 to see the sunrise, really beautiful and well worth getting up... we had some breakfast at a coral island there. We took a lot of really cool pictures (we are putting in some, so take a look) and had so much fun. But like everything good it came to an end and we had to say goodbye to your great guide (the cook and driver).
We got in to a hostel, went to Minutman pizza (the best food in town, but it doesn't open until 5pm) and went to bed at 20.00 on a Saturday night.
At 10 we got up and went to Potosi... I'm going to let Lilja tell you about that fantastic trip.
With lots of love

Linda
